- Adolfo Simón
He began his theatrical training at the Escola d’ Actors in Barcelona at the end of the 70s. There he also made his first experiences as an actor in different groups. In the mid 80’s he moved to Madrid where he continued his training as an actor, director and playwright with leading national and international professionals.
At the end of the 80’s he became part of the Cuarta Pared project where he developed his theoretical and practical training as a director and manager. His collaboration with this project for more than 30 years has generated proposals such as the first communication department, the creation of the children’s and youth area, as well as the initiation workshops. Other important projects were the creation and direction of AFORO-International Theater Courses and the Department of Dramaturgy of the actor within the Regular Course.
In parallel, in the early 90’s, he created his own Company dedicated for almost two decades to the staging of living Spanish authors such as Rodrigo Garcia, Angelica Liddell, Juan Mayorga, Itziar Pascual, Raul Hernández Garrido, Francisco Nieva, Beth Escude i Galles, Sergi Belbell, Jose Ramon Fernandez and a long etcetera.
He also created a space for training and research: C.E.T-Centro de Entrenamiento Teatral that came to have headquarters in Madrid and Barcelona. At the end of the 90’s he created Dante, a space for research on new languages and performances… many of the actions carried out in public had socially necessary themes such as the 11-M attacks, AIDS, immigration, male violence, racism, etc.
In mid-2000 he created a new innovative project: CDR-Centro Dramático Rural in a village in Cuenca. There he develops proposals for dialogue between tradition and the avant-garde. Projects generated there: Museo en los Muros, Retratos de memoria, Festival MiraDANZA, F.E.O.-Festival Escena Objeto, Certamen de Textos breves “Francisco Nieva” and a program of creative residencies. He also creates the space Nido Dadá, dedicated to the universe of Object Theater, Theater for babies and artist’s books. He has directed stage experiences in Spain, Greece, Portugal, Finland, Chile and Argentina.
